Employment Law Breakfast at No.20: Practical Insights on the Employment Rights Act 2025

Yesterday morning at No.20 Berkeley Square, We had the pleasure of spending time alongside Kerrie Hunt (Thrings) and Sharon Alred  (Signature Recruitment) discussing the Employment Rights Act (ERA) with our members and guests — and it sparked exactly the kind of high-quality, practical conversation we love to see in the room.

Employment Law Breakfast at No.20 Berkeley Square

There was a real energy to this session: a brilliant bunch of people, generous with their experience, asking smart questions, and leaning into what matters most right now — the practical application of employment law changes we need to be thinking about today, not “at some point down the line”.

With the Employment Rights Act 2025 ushering in some of the most significant changes to UK employment law in decades — and with elements expected to come into force across 2026 and 2027 — it was timely, grounded, and genuinely useful to explore what this means in real-life terms for employers, leaders, HR teams and advisers.

Insights from Thrings and Signature Recruitment

A huge thank you to our presenters:

  • Kerrie Hunt, Head of Employment Law at Thrings, who brought clarity and depth to a complex and fast-moving topic. Kerrie’s experience advising organisations on people strategy, compliance, disputes, and risk management really came through — particularly in helping attendees think through what “good” looks like as the legal landscape shifts.

  • Sharon Alred of Signature Recruitment, who added the crucial recruitment perspective and highlighted the practical actions businesses can take now to reduce risk as upcoming changes bed in. From hiring processes to documentation, expectations-setting and decision-making, Sharon’s input made the discussion immediately actionable.

Together, Kerrie and Sharon made a potentially daunting subject feel approachable — and, more importantly, manageable with the right planning.

What stood out

What made the breakfast especially valuable was the format: it wasn’t just a presentation, it was a conversation. The room was full of thoughtful questions and real-world scenarios, and it was clear many attendees left with clearer next steps — whether that’s reviewing recruitment practices, stress-testing processes, or planning ahead for the phased introduction of legal changes.

Thank you to everyone who joined us

To all No.20 members and guests who attended — thank you. The quality of these sessions is always shaped by the people in the room, and your engagement is what turns a breakfast briefing into a genuinely useful forum.
